Jo Jo Simmons Releases Debut Mixtape
Posted: Tuesday - March 9, 2010 | Comments (0)

Jo Jo Simmons After receiving a lot of negative criticism about his lyrical skills, son of legendary rapper Reverend Run know from Run DMC fame, Jo Jo Simmons released his debut mixtape titled Most Improved Player with DJ Spin King this past Wednesday (March 3) under his stage name of Young Simmons.

Young Simmons decided to release a mixtape to prove to people that he does have talent and a passion for music. Although the reason he received a record deal with Latchkey Records with his group Team Blackout was because of his dad, he wants to prove that he still has to work twice as hard as any artist. After co-starring on Run's House since 2005 he doesn't feel that people are able to see him for who he really is. By doing this mixtape he hopes to allow people to get to know him better aside from the person they see on television.

"All the hate I've been getting motivated this mixtape, I love music that's why I make music. I feel like no matter what I do, hot or not, people don't like me because of the personality they see on TV. Hopefully this mixtape will help people get to know me better."

The mixtape consists of 21 tracks touching on personal topics such as his 2009 arrest for possession of marijuana and the fame behind his last name.

Torch - The New New York

Torch When Bronx, New York born rapper Torch looked up one day and found himself amongst the palm trees of Miami, instead of the cold cement of New York, he effectively made the best of it. Combining the grit and grind of New York that he was raised on and the laid back swagger of Miami he adjusted to, his lyrical outlook has made him a rapper to watch as well as appreciate.
