Dame Dash’s money woes continue to make headlines. The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder recently lost two Manhattan apartments, one of which was sold at an auction on Wednesday (July 28).
The property located at 25 N. Moore was sold for over $5 million to a California-based mortgage and finance firm called Platinum Capital Partners, according to the New York Post. Edward Farrell, the lawyer representing the buyer, paid for 10 percent of the sale price while in court, but would not reveal the name of his client.
The second apartment, which is located on 79 Laight St. was not sold. It is now owned by Eastern Savings Bank, the bank that held the mortgage on both homes.
The auction of the properties was ordered following a two year-old lawsuit against Dash behind his failure to pay the monthly mortgage at both locations. The former music mogul brought the homes in 2004 but refinanced both in 2006 for $7.3 million during the real estate boom. He tried unsuccessfully to sell the homes in 2008 and 2009.
Dash was reportedly out of town yesterday but Nyssa Frank, the director of an art gallery he opened, commented on the former mogul’s money troubles and said that he is “happier now.”
“Where he is now is where he wants to be,” said Frank. “He’s happier now than he’s ever been because he’s working with people he loves doing what he loves.”
