Freddie Gibbs On DJ Khaled: I Don't Like What He's Doing
Posted: Saturday - July 31, 2010 | Comments (2)

Freddie Gibbs Earlier this month Freddie Gibbs took to Twitter and expressed his disdain for DJs who like to rap on tracks. “Much love to all the real DJs in the Game,” read the tweet. “To all the ones that be tryin to rap and be diddy eat a d*ck.”

The outspoken MC expounded on that message during an interview with Complex magazine recently and confirmed that he was talking about DJ Khaled. While not trying to discredit the success that the southern DJ has had, Gibbs said that he just doesn’t care for Khaled’s way of doing things.

“I mean it was just a general thing. I wasn’t angry at nobody. Specifically I was talking about DJ Khaled, if people wanna know,” said Gibbs. “I don’t like what he’s doing rapping on records and sh*t like that, but you know, to each his own. I’m not taking away nothing that he did in the game or the success that he’s had, because he’s done his thing and made bread, but I just think that so many n*ggas are making a mockery of this rap game right now.”

Gibbs also went on to assert that the only reason other rappers haven’t commented on it is because of the position that Khaled holds at Def Jam.

“A lot of these rappers in the game be scared to say something about that sh*t because they wanna get they next check, or they wanna ride d*ck, ‘cause these n*ggas is making a little bread,” added the Midwest rapper.

“In the ‘90s, Kid Capri wasn’t busting no verse. You don’t see Funkmaster Flex busting no verses, my n*gga. DJ Premier ain’t busting no verses. It’s all about respect. Much success to them and I hope they keep doing their thing, but I think these n*ggas disrespecting the game because they got the power to do it. The f*cking president of A&R of Def Jam, who gon’ tell them no?”

Gibbs recently released his mixtape, Str8 Killa, No Filla, earlier this week and his EP Str8 Killa, will be available at online retailers on August 3rd. The project features collaborations with Bun B, Jay Rock, and others.

Torch - The New New York

Torch When Bronx, New York born rapper Torch looked up one day and found himself amongst the palm trees of Miami, instead of the cold cement of New York, he effectively made the best of it.
